1. Start at Trocadéro for the classic Eiffel Tower view
Place du Trocadéro gives you the most recognizable view of the Eiffel Tower and is a practical place to begin. Arriving early makes a major difference: the terraces are calmer, the pavement is cooler in summer and taking a photo with your dog is much easier.
Dogs are allowed on the paths of the Jardins du Trocadéro when kept on a leash. Stay on the permitted walkways, avoid planted areas and keep your dog close around fountains, stairs and busy viewpoints. Water points may be available in the gardens, but carrying your own bowl and water is still the safest plan.
2. Walk down through the gardens and cross Pont d’Iéna
From the terrace, descend through the gardens toward Pont d’Iéna. This section offers changing views of the tower and several good places for a short photo stop.
The bridge is the busiest part of the walk. Keep the leash short because of traffic, bicycles, scooters and dense pedestrian flow. If your dog is nervous around crowds or vehicles, pause before the bridge and cross only when conditions feel manageable.
Once you reach the Eiffel Tower side, remember that dogs cannot enter the monument or its visitor areas unless they qualify as assistance animals. Enjoy the exterior and continue toward Champ de Mars.
3. Continue on the permitted paths of Champ de Mars
Champ de Mars is not a dog park, but it can form a pleasant part of the route when you respect the local rules. Keep your dog leashed and remain on designated paths where dogs are permitted. Do not allow your dog onto protected lawns, flower beds, playgrounds, fountains or pools.
The park becomes especially busy around midday, on weekends and during events. An early morning visit gives your dog more space and also makes it easier to find shaded sections in warm weather.
4. Add a Seine and Bir-Hakeim extension
If your dog still has energy, continue beside the Seine toward Pont de Bir-Hakeim. This extension adds river views and another excellent Eiffel Tower perspective. It also introduces runners, cyclists and nearby roads, so a secure leash and good recall habits remain essential even though your dog should not be off leash here.
You can return toward Trocadéro or finish near Bir-Hakeim, depending on your transport plans and your dog’s comfort level.
Best time for dog walks near Eiffel Tower
The best choice is usually an early weekday morning. You avoid the heaviest crowds, tour groups and hotter pavement. In summer, test the ground with the back of your hand before walking for long periods and bring more water than you expect to need. In winter or rain, the open areas near the Seine can feel colder and windier than nearby streets.
